Terms of Service
Last Updated: October 2026 · Kiru Chitra (kiruchitra.in) · Bhitthichitra Cinemas
1. Platform Overview & Acceptance
By accessing, browsing, or transacting on Kiru Chitra (the "Platform", available at kiruchitra.in), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform.
Kiru Chitra operates as a specialized, ad-free digital screening theater for independent and festival short cinema. We employ a pay-per-film rental model with no hidden recurring subscription fees.
2. The 48-Hour Rental Pass
- Screening Window: Purchasing a rental pass grants the verified user account access to stream the selected short film for exactly 48 continuous hours starting from the timestamp of successful payment confirmation.
- Personal License: Rental passes grant a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable screening license for individual entertainment on consumer displays.
- No Public Exhibition: Rental passes strictly prohibit commercial public screening, theatrical redistribution, fee-charging exhibitions, or group broadcasting without prior written licensing from the copyright holder.
3. Forensic Anti-Piracy & DRM Protection
To protect the life's work of independent filmmakers, Kiru Chitra implements forensic multi-layered DRM (Digital Rights Management) across all video streams:
Streams are embedded with dynamic, cryptographically verifiable forensic watermarks identifying the viewing session. Attempting to record the screen, capture HLS stream segments, circumvent player controls, decompile encryption keys, or inspect video memory is a direct violation of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Violators will face immediate pass revocation without refund, permanent platform ban, and potential legal prosecution.
4. Filmmaker IP & 90/10 Revenue Distribution
100% Creator IP Retention: Filmmakers who submit their works to Kiru Chitra retain complete intellectual property and copyright ownership of their films. Kiru Chitra is granted only a non-exclusive digital screening license for the agreed exhibition term.
Transparent Revenue Share: 90% of the net ticket proceeds (after mandatory payment gateway fees and applicable GST) are disbursed directly to the verified filmmaker.
5. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Because digital rental passes provide instantaneous access to cryptographic streaming manifests, all pass purchases are final and non-refundable once playback has commenced or after 2 hours of pass issuance.
In the unlikely event of an uninterrupted platform outage or catastrophic technical streaming error originating from Kiru Chitra's infrastructure, users can reach out to support@kiruchitra.in within 24 hours for a pass extension or replacement screening credit.
6. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
